It was a week full of impressions for some students from our school. From 27th to 30th of November 2018 four pupils and two teachers went to Alicante – gorgeous city in the east coast of Spain. This trip was organized as a part of an international Erasmus + project: ICT YES! (International Culture and Traditions - Young Explorers on the Start!). It consists of partner schools from: Poland, Turkey, Romania, Spain, Lithuania and Italy. The host of the meeting was the school IES Playa San Juan in Alicante. The main topic of this mobility was ‘’Literature”. Our students could learn a lot about other countries and share some information about Polish culture with other people. The first day was the day when everyone met and there were presentations, during which the students presented the area in which they live and the schools they attend. After the presentations, all together went for a short walk around Alicante, visited a nearby, beautiful park as well as had an opportunity to admire the wonderful sea view and enjoy the warm sun on the sandy beach. After these activities they had plenty of free time, which they spent together with the people, who hosted them. The next day began with working in international groups. Students analysed a poem by a well-known Spanish poet - Miquel Hernandez. They had to describe their impressions, thoughts and conclusions. After this workshop everyone went to Elche, where they visited the palm oasis, and the guides told them about the old irrigation systems, ways to get water when it wasn't in town, and its sources and history in Alicante. Then they visited the Basilica of Saint Mary where every year there is a Mystery, a play about the Virgin Mary’s Assumption. They also visited a museum about the history of the basilica and the performances played in them, then returned to Alicante to spend their free time there. The third day of the meeting was very interesting and important. Its main topic was about a great Spanish poet - Miguel Hernandez. First of all students went to Orihuela – the place of his birth. They visited his parents’ house. Small garden with lots of flowers inside, almost empty rooms, a little kitchen… this place looked very magic. Later they visited the school, which he attended. It has got a church in it, which looks like a little miracle. But there was something that totally amazed all people. There was a part of the town, where all walls of houses were painted over with illustrations of Miguel’s poems by artists inspired by his poetry. It was a symbol of revolution, so these people started to do it, because they knew, that this country had to change some things. All life of this artist made his poems brilliant, so he was a perfect poet to remember for Spanish people. In the afternoon students went with their teachers to Alicante’s centre to see this amazing city and places worth visiting. The most characteristic building for Alicante is the castle on a big hill, from where you can see the panorama of the city and the beautiful sea. All those unique and amazing views will be remembered by students forever. At the end of the day Polish team admired wonderful sunset by the sea – for sure no one will forget those amazing moments. On Friday students sumed up all information which they had learned during those four days in Spain. Additionally, they showed the most important presentations about literature in their countries. The Polish team made a project about a famous writer – Henryk Sienkewicz, who is the patron of Primary School in Święcany. After that, Spanish coordinators gave small gifts and cartificates of participation in this mobility to everyone. Then students had interensting workshops about graffiti. A proffesional artist told them about graffiti and made three paintings with the Erasmus people. Everyone had an opportunity to try how to use a special spray and colour something. It was a great fun! After that students had a free time, which they spent with their host families. At 6 p.m. everyone went back to school to take part in the farewell dinner. There we had our last moments with our new friends. Students had a party, during which they learnd traditional dances and sang a lot of songs. It was the best time in this week, but unfortunatelly also the last day in this amazing country with those amazing people. Finally, it was a time to say goodbye and leave Alicante. This mobility was the best ocassion to find out something about literature in other countries, their culture and traditions. Students had an opportunity to meet new people and practise their English skills. In addition, they lived in the houses of Spanish families for those four days, so they could see, how their life looks like and communicate with them in other language. It was also a chance to visit breathtaking and unforgettable places in this beautiful country.
